06 May First-timer’s Ultimate Guide to Oahu Part 2: Where to Eat
Here is the second part of the First-timer’s Ultimate Guide to Oahu. This time, I go over “ono” food spots you need to try. Stay tuned next week for the final part of this series. Enjoy!

1. Rainbow Drive-in
Moco loco’s for the win.
2. Ono Hawaiian Foods (on Kapahulu)
When I saw the LauLau, I was 100% certain I wasn’t going to like it. Boy was I wrong. YUM. Must try with an open mind.
3. Ono Seafood
Across the street from Ono Hawaiian Foods. Yummy ahi poke!
4. Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck (or Romy’s)
I mean, it’s shrimp…who doesn’t love shrimp (unless you’re allergic)?! The garlic shrimp is finger lickin’ good.
5. Liliha Bakery
Get a box full of coco cream puffs, it’s their signature pastry. My favorite is the green tea!
6. Leonard’s Bakery
Get a box full of sugary donut holes, also known as malasadas. Best when it’s hot and fresh!
7. Waiola Shave Ice
My personal favorite shaved ice spot. Don’t be fooled by other shaved ice places (the ones at the grocery store, etc.), if you want some serious shaved ice, go here.
8. Matsumoto’s Shave Ice
Passion fruit + mango, ah.
9. Marukame Udon
There’s usually a really long line. People even wait in the rain! (guilty) Come here if you love udon –you get to customize your own!
Zippy’s is a popular fast food chain in Hawaii. It’s everywhere!
11. Nico’s Pier 38
A restaurant with a nice view. I had the pan fried seared ahi, it was quite tasty.
BEST SUSHI I’VE EVER HAD.
13. Musubi & Bento Isayume
A tiny spamusubi heaven. Even president Obama seems to think so.
14. Duke’s Waikiki
Had a nice romantic dinner on the beach with the boyfriend, followed by a nice romantic walk on the beach.
15. Cafe Haleiwa
Great for breakfast if you’re on the North Shore side.
